Hi there..
So, lately there have been quite many things happening and troubling me.
the most taihen one is uni.. there is a new registration stystem where you get 1000 points and you have to give points to the units you wanna do/have to do according to your preferance, and it sucks -__-
the whole thing doesnt really work coz there are technical problems and stuff, and i was really mad about it. but now its okay. i will figure out what i can do to get into at least one more unit (coz i didnt get into 2).
right now it seems that i only have to be at uni on mo, tue, wed, so i should get one more class.
anyways,
the next thing i wanna talk about is my interest in cooking and baking .__.
i like to cook and also to bake, and im neither bad nor good at it. just okay -.-
you can eat the stuff that i cook.
But lately i have found great blogs with japanese and non-japanese recipes, many of them even vegetarian :)
but cooking needs a lot of money x_x and time x_x and i have to buy almost all ingredients by myself, coz even though i often cook for my mom and brother too, they dont really appreciate it. they go like "i dont like this one ingredient" or "it smells/looks weird, you can have all yourself" -_- so nice, isnt it?
Just because they are not used to japanese food, and coz my mom and brother are very picky and don't eat eggs, and stuff. (my mom eats kind of vegan so its really difficult to make smthg she eats too)
anyways.
This week i tried to make tamagoyaki (dashimaki tamago) which is like a rolled omelett. it tastes really yummy and i was curious to try it out :)
and i did it, it was not as difficult as i expected (the rolling part) and it looked and tasted not bad. :P of course i have to try more times to get better, but i was happy about my first try. ^^
The next day i wanted to make chocolate mochi cake.
i really looove mochi cake *__* it tastes so good and is fluffy and もちもち!
in japan you can get it in conbini, and there is a huge variety. chocolate, maple, matcha, custard, etc..
At Mister Donut they also have a Pon-de-ring(?) series which is made with mochiko (glutinous rice flour) too and it tastes great.
but since i live in vienna there is no Mister Donut here and also no Conbini ;__;
When my friend came back from Japan this summer about 3~4 weeks ago, she brought me one mochimochipan. You have to eat it within 2 or 3 days, so that was okay.
i made a picture of it, haha. its above. so thats what i am talking about.
So i searched for mochi pan recipes on the net but it was difficult to find any -.-
then i found some and bought mochiko in an asian shop, and tried to make that cake.
I did everything right, according to the recipe...
BUTTT ;__; what i got in the end was a cake that was more like real mochi (dango, or daifuku) than like the yummy mochipan :( it was not what i expected -.-
it tasted a bit weird. too little chocoflavour and too little sweet. i mean, it was not bad, but i ate one piece and then i felt like i cant eat any of this anymore, otherwise i would feel sick. my brother and a friend liked it though.
i was disappointed that it didnt work out.. :(
And then i realised what the mistake was: for the cake that i wanna have, i should use ordinary flour PLUS mochiko (rice flour).
But there are NO recipes for such a cake on google X_X
anyways, i will try to make such a cake later... if anyone knows a recipe, please send me ^^
So above one can see a pic of TimTam (chocolate biscuits that my boyfriend brought me from Australia when he visited me. he brought me many and they are yummy :) ), 2 pics of my first try tamakoyaki (one pic is only tamagoyaki, and one is tamagoyaki with fried rice noodles, it was my dinner that day), and the choco mochi pan that my friend brought me from japan.
tja... thats it so far -.-
i wonder if anyone is gonna read this stuff, haha. (except my yacchan <3 ._. )
